Bill Waite : He died peacefully at home with his family by his side on Saturday, December 29, 2018. William John Waite was born on November 16, 1930 and raised in Wisconsin. He was the 10th of 14 children for Lanson and Frances (Bartlett) Waite. He enlisted in the Navy in 1948. It was during this time that he met and married Lillian Fisher. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in April. After 24 years of many tours in different places around the world, he retired as Master Chief in ’72 so that they could raise their children in Brunswick. He then worked for Supships, Vitro and Lockheed. While his children were growing up, he was active in youth hockey and coached Babe Ruth baseball. Bill was an active member of the Fleet Reserve and the Brunswick Elks, especially during their The Santa Claus Fund drives. He retired for good in 1986. This is when Bill and Lil began to visit friends and family around the country and travel to countries around the world. They enjoyed being home, too, to watch the grandchildren play sports, and in recent years, attend their great grandchildren’s games. He leaves behind his wife Lillian (Fisher) Waite; a sister, Marie (Lane) Fiske of Florida, his 5 children: Debbie (Kevin) Johnson; David (Lorraine); Lisa (Chuck) Greenlaw, Tommy (Cameron) of Virgina and Chris, ten grandchildren; Kourtney (Jason) MacDonald, Jot Johnson, Sarah (Ryan) Kenney, Samantha (Greg) Koch. Noah Greenlaw, Tage Waite of Virginia, Brittney Gifford of Virginia. Rachel Greenlaw of Boston. and Bella and Emme Waite of Virginia, and four great grandchildren: Maeve and Rowan MacDonald, Grant Kenney, and William (Liam) Koch.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CHANS/Hospice of Brunswick and/or the Brunswick Elks’ The Santa Claus Fund.

Vising hours will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4 at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St. in Brunswick. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 5 at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Boromeo Church in Brunswick.
