BIDDEFORD — Madeleine M. Gagnon, 88, of Biddeford, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice in Scarborough.

She was born July 18, 1930 in Biddeford, a daughter of Frank X. and Rose A. (Lebel) Dube and was educated locally.

On May 31, 1947 she married Leo A. Gagnon in St. Andre’s Church.

She had been employed at the local shoe shops for 30 years until they all closed.  She then ran a home daycare for over 30 years.

Madeleine had been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Biddeford Senior Citizens.

She enjoyed going to casinos, traveling and watching the New England Patriots, especially Tom Brady.

Preceding her in death was Leo Gagnon., her husband of 60 years, on Jan. 28, 2008.  She was also predeceased by her son Norman Gagnon and a sister Doris Murphy in 2011.

She is survived by a daughter, Susan Loring of Biddeford; three grandchildren, Ricky Gagnon, Tracy Gregoire, and Shelley Roberge; eight great-grandchildren, Ashley, Justin, Colby, Megan, Colin, Nicole, Brooke and Nicholas; a great-great-granddaughter, Aria; four step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Sharolyn Gagnon of Biddeford; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A funeral service will follow in the Hope Chapel at 1 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
