BIDDEFORD — Monique S. Ruel, age 87 of Biddeford, died Friday Jan. 18, 2019 at the Gosnell Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine.

She was born in Garby, Canada on June 3, 1931 the daughter of Joseph Dube and Oberline Guay.

Monique grew up in Canada and vacationed with her family in Old Orchard Beach. In 1966, she moved here with her family to Biddeford. She worked for many years in the local mills. Monique enjoyed watching the French Channel in her spare time.She loved to travel and had a special trip to Spain that was her most cherished vacation. In her recent years, Monique has enjoyed spending time with her family and friends especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her two brothers, Jean Paul and Henry Lou Dube.

Monique is survived by: her son, Serge Ruel of Biddeford; her daughter, France Fitanides of Saco; a sister, Gabrielle LaRoche; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to attend a time of visitation on Friday, Jan. 25, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Cote Funeral Home, 87 James St. Saco, Maine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019 at 10 a.m. in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 178 Elm St., Biddeford, Maine. Interment will be in the spring at Woodlawn Cemetery in Biddeford, Maine.
