BIDDEFORD — Raymond “Tank” Moreau, 70, of Biddeford, passed away on Monday, Jan. 28, 2019, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.

He was born in Biddeford on Nov. 9, 1948, a son of Ovide and Marcelle (Regis) Moreau. He graduated from Biddeford High School, Class of 1969.

Tank was employed by York Country Sheriff’s Department from 1971 to 2005. He retired at the rank of Captain.

Tank was a 7th Degree Black Belt (Master Instructor) in Tae Kwon Do. He received his (Gold Seal) certification from the World Tae Kwon Do Federation in Seoul, Korea. Tank was also a Master Instructor in Judo and Jujitsu for over 30 years. He was a mentor, coach and positive role model for many students throughout the years. He served as an International referee making friendships and sharing his knowledge all over the world. His peers recall their time with Tank and how he had a positive influence in life. They will cherish their memories and hold on to them forever. He will be sadly missed by many.

Tank was a Mason with the Dunlop Lodge #47 for 37 years. He also served as Past Master of the Lodge. He was a Master Mason of The Scottish Rite, completing his three degrees of Symbolism. He was also a Kora Shriner, involved with many of the organizations events and served as Biddeford Fire Commissioner in his community since 2013.

During retirement, Tank looked forward to and enjoyed his work with Twin City Gold in Biddeford for the past 25 years.

He was predeceased by two siblings, Lorraine Houle and Richard Moreau.

He is survived by one sister Joanne R. Perreault and her husband Richard; several nieces, nephews and was the godfather of three, William Lee, Wayne Chin and Peter Chen.

A Gathering will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019, with a Celebration of Tank’s Life from 4 to 5 p.m. at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, Saco. Burial will be held at a later date in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
