SACO — Roger N. Provencher, 71, of Saco, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2019 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House with his family by his side.

He was born Feb. 14, 1947 in Biddeford, a son of Dennis G. and Aline (Moulin) Provencher.  He was educated locally, graduating from Biddeford High School in the Class of 1965.

Roger enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee; his service included two tours in Vietnam.  Following his military service, he went on to Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute in South Portland studying to be a heating technician.

In 1969, he opened his oil burner service company; after the death of his father in 1989 he took over his dad’s oil business and continued as Provencher Fuels, Inc.  He operated the enterprise until the fall of 2017 when he retired due to illness.

On April 4, 1990, he married Beverly Roy in Saco.

Roger’s pastimes included tuna fishing, boating and driving.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Beverly Provencher of Saco; son, Bryan J. Provencher of Old Orchard Beach; daughter, Tonya A. Houde of Saco; son, Kevin S. Houde and wife Meghan of Dayton; three grandchildren, Cameron Houde, McKade Houde and Amelia Danehy; a brother, Richard Provencher of Biddeford; and four nieces.

Visiting Hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005.  Celebration of life will be held on Thursday, Feb. 7 at 5:30 p.m. in the Hope Chapel.
