BATH — Democrats on Tuesday nominated City Councilor Sean Paulhus to run for the recently vacated seat representing state House District 52.

Paulhus defeated City Councilor Mari Eosco, 54-39, in the caucus at City Hall. He said he plans to remain on the council if elected in the April 2 special election.

Former Rep. Jennifer DeChant, D-Bath, resigned Feb. 1.

Paulhus has worked both in the Senate and House as an aide to the secretary of the Senate and sergeant at arms. He has served on the City Council since 2008.

The other candidates on the ballot will be Republican Ken Sener, a retired U.S. Navy captain, and Libertarian Christopher Hallowell.
