Brunswick – Raymond L. Clavin age 88 of Lynch Street died Saturday, March 9th at Winship Green Nursing Center in Bath.  He was born in Hamletsburg, Illinois on December 28, 1930 the son of George and Elsie Reynolds Clavin. 

Ray attended Hamletsburg, Illinois and St. Louis, Missouri schools. From 1948-1968 Ray served in the United States Navy serving five tours in Vietnam. Ray also made trips to the Artic and Antarctica during his military career. 

On June 15, 1963 he married Andrea Stubenbort. 

For 23 years until retiring in 1992 Ray worked as a postal carrier for the Bath Post Office. 

Ray enjoyed fishing and golfing. He loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals and the Boston Red Sox baseball teams on tv. Ray also enjoyed crossword and sudoku puzzles. 

He was a member of the Brunswick Knights of Columbus and the Postal Carrier’s Union.

Surviving besides his wife of Brunswick is a son R. Heath Clavin and his wife Rachael of Brunswick. Three daughters Melanie Hellwig and her husband Dennis of Keansburg, NJ; Brenda of Maine, Laurie and her family of Seaside, CA. An aunt Norma Owens of Schererville, IN. Also survived by nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

He was predeceased by a son Terry Clavin and a brother Melvin Clavin. 

At his request there will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 14th at 11 AM at John’s the Baptist Church- All Saints Parish 39 Pleasant St. Brunswick. 

Spring Interment with military honors will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Brunswick. Memorial donations may be made to St. John’s the Baptist Church 132 McKeen St. Brunswick, Maine 04011.
