Lyle Merrifield, of Merrfield Farm in Gorham, monitors maple syrup in the farm’s sugarhouse Tuesday. Merrifield said the farm typically producers 200 gallons of maple syrup a year, but it’s about three weeks behind schedule this year due to the weather. He is optimistic, now that spring has arrived, it will turn out to be a decent season. The farm is one of nearly 100 around the state opening their doors for Maine Maple Sunday this weekend.
