HARPSWELL – Jean Lister Monroe, of Harpswell, Maine, died peacefully March 21, 2019, surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Cmdr. William D. Monroe III, USN (Ret.); sons, David and Tom; daughter, Janine; one grandson; five granddaughters; and four great-grandchilden. She was preceded in death by her son, William D. Monroe IV.
Jean was born on Sept. 13, 1935, in Sheffield, England, to Tom and Olive Lister, served in the Royal Navy, and immigrated to America in 1959.
She will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery.
