WOOLWICH - James Fredrick DeLong of Woolwich, ME passed away peacefully on April 11, 2019 at St. Andrews Village in Boothbay Harbor at age 84. Born and raised in Marietta, Ohio, son of Kenneth Martin DeLong and Grace Mae Joy, he lived in Woolwich with his loving partner Donna Barter for the past 20+ years. 

Jim proudly served in the Marines, the Navy and the Air National Guard. 

Recipient of a business degree from Marietta College, he was owner of a hardware store in Monmouth and part owner of another in Auburn. He worked in management roles at W.T. Grant Company in Lewiston and Augusta and Grand City in Brunswick. He enjoyed investing in the stock market. 

Jim loved playing tennis and the ocean. He and Donna enjoyed square dancing and were members of the Sage Swingers Square and Round Dance Club of Brunswick and Bill’s Bunch. 

Jim is survived by Donna Barter of Woolwich; his sister Shirlee (Jerry) Moore of Coos Bay, Ore.; his children Kenneth James (Kristi) DeLong of Hollis, NH, Scott DeLong (Heather Barlow) of San Diego, Calif., Karen DeLong of South China and Donna’s children Diane (Daniel) Brown of Woolwich; Dale Barter (Debbie Starr) of Bath; Dalton (Cris) Barter of South Portland; as well as eight grandchildren Joel, Daniel, Rachel, Allyson, Tiffany, Lucas, David and Vanessa.
