SPRINGVALE — A woman who along with her husband, has been accused of beating a woman over the weekend in a Biddeford apartment is now facing a kidnapping charge.

Records on file at Springvale District Court show Kimberly Marie Vigue-Brown, 31, was originally charged with aggravated assault, criminal threatening and robbery, all Class C felonies, and is also now charged with Class A felony kidnapping in connection with an incident at the Hill Street apartment she shares with her husband Aaron Brown, 33.

Aaron Brown was charged by police with Class A kidnapping and Class C aggravated assault in connection with the incident that is alleged to have begun Saturday night and wound down around 3 a.m. Sunday when the victim managed to run from the apartment to the home of a nearby relative. She reported the incident to Biddeford Police around 9 a.m. on Sunday. The Brown’s were arrested later that day.

The pair were charged under the provision of the Maine statue that states a person is guilty of kidnapping if the actor knowingly restrains another person with the intent to inflict bodily injury.

Both made their first court appearance from York County Jail by video to Springvale District Court on Monday afternoon.

Bail remained at $100,000 for each of them. As of Tuesday afternoon, both remained incarcerated at York County Jail.

The 31-year-old victim told police on Sunday morning that she had been kicked and punched, and a knife was held against her throat. Biddeford Deputy Police Chief JoAnne Fisk said police reports indicate the woman had bruises about her face and neck and that one of her eyes was swollen shut. As well, there were  bruises around the area of the victim’s neck and throat consistent with someone who had been choked, Fisk said.

“The victim met Aaron Brown and his wife, Kimberly Vigue-Brown in Saco during the evening hours (on Saturday),” said Fisk. “From there, the victim agreed to accompany them to their Hill Street apartment where Mr. Brown was to retrieve an article of clothing. Once they entered an apartment the victim was physically restrained and aggressively assaulted.”

The victim told police that Vigue-Brown also took her wallet along with her Samsung cell phone.

Their next court appearance is set for Sept. 5, with a trial date of Oct. 21.

If they make bail, Brown and Vigue-Brown are to have no contact with the victim and another individual.

Police have not released a motive for the alleged crime.

The maximum prison term, upon conviction, for a Class A crime is 30 years, and five years for a Class C crime.
