Get ready to make some music at Kennebunk Free Library on Tuesday, July 30 at 6 p.m., Mike and Beverly Rogers will be here to offer a harmonica workshop for anyone ages 9 through adult. The workshop will teach simple songs and basic techniques and each student will receive a harmonica to take home. Please call or e-mail the library to register to ensure that there are enough harmonicas to go around.
Mike Rogers has been playing harmonica since the age of 15. Mike performs with harmonica and guitar and is blind as a result of retinitis pigmentosa. He simultaneously draws on forty-eight years of professional musicianship, 15 years of teaching secondary education and 20 years of performing in schools from Maine to Georgia and throughout the Bahamas. Mike is joined by his wife Beverly who brings to the duo ten years of substitute teaching experience as well as previous work as a children’s storyteller for the public library system in Peach County, Georgia. They have been presenting these workshops for the past thirty years.
This program is free and wheelchair accessible. The Kennebunk Free Library is located at 112 Main St. in Kennebunk, Maine.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
