BELFAST — A large complex where former credit card company MBNA once employed 2,000 Mainers is going up for auction.
Bids will start at $1.8 million next month for the former MBNA call center that’s now home to Bank of America, service company OnProcess Technology and several other companies. The Bangor Daily News reports that the online auction will begin Sept. 23.
The 320,000-square-foot property has been for lease for more than a year.
Tony McDonald, one of the partners at the Boulos Co. in Portland, said it’s been difficult to lease because it’s such a large space in a rural market.
In 2006, Bank of America bought MBNA and occupied the complex. However, Bank of America’s workforce uses only part of the space.
