BRUNSWICK – James Fredrick “Fred” Burrill, 75, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 25, 2019. The son of James E. and Nannie J. Burrill, Fred was born Jan. 6, 1944 in Hanley, W.Va.

Fred was raised and educated in Luray, Va. and was employed by A&P Food Stores. After moving to Maine in the late eighties, he became a member of the Independence Association and was employed by the Moulton Union of Bowdoin College. Fred had many wonderful and fulfilling years with his coworkers at Moulton Union until his retirement in 2011.

Fred loved bowling and enjoyed the weekly league at The Bowling Ball where he met many kind friends. He was an avid sports fan and loved following his favorite teams; the New England Patriots, the Washington Redskins and the Boston Red Sox. In his spare time, Fred also enjoyed Striper fishing, dancing, attending Tuesday coffee at the Chatty Goose with friends and staff at Independence Association, and spending time with his devoted Diemer and Rooks families.

In addition to his late parents, Fred was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Holzapfel of LaQuinta, Calif., and a brother, Garey Burrill of Dunkirk, Md.

Fred is survived by his sister, Carolyn Burrill of Frederick, Md., his brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Mollie Burrill; and niece Emilie of Topsham; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Bayview Cemetery in Bowdoinham on Saturday, October 12 at 11 a.m.
