I was disappointed in the coverage of The Times Record this past week. A significant Topsham Planning Board Meeting was not covered. On Monday, Sept. 16th you printed a nearly full-page article on Highland Green. The article covered the expansion of Highland Green and the new construction and services that are planned for the future.
On Tuesday evening the Topsham Planning Board met with two agenda items on the docket. Both topics were dealing with the proposed new developments at Highland Green. At that public meeting there were between 65 and 70 residents from Highland Green who had come to express their concerns on the future planning. Nearly a dozen of these residents spoke and stated their concerns, all of which were valid. The emergency access, two methods of egress, set-backs, and an undersized community center were the major concerns.
During the rest of the week The Times Record made no mention of the Topsham Planning Board Meeting and the concerns of the Highland Green residents. The other side of the story should have been mentioned after so much copy had been provided on Monday with the extensive article on the future of Highland Green. Where is the “Local, Legitimate, Journalism” claimed by the Times Record on Page One?
