Matthew S. Difley

WELLS/FT. MYERS, Fla. – Matthew S. Difley, 53, a resident of both Wells, Maine and Fort Myers, Fla. passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021, after a 4+ year battle with ALS. He was under the exceptional care of Hope Hospice in Fort Myers. Matt was born in Baltimore, Md. on May 23, 1967.

Matt was a graduate of Bonita Vista (Calif.) High School, and California Polytechnic State University. His 25 year career in the biotech industry was both personally rewarding and impactful.

In his spare time, he loved fishing on the Ogunquit River, passionately followed the San Francisco Giants and Boston Red Sox, enjoyed winetasting at many California wineries, delighted in brewing IPAs in his home, and appreciated rock music.

He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Michelle Boulger of Wells; his parents, Raymond (Bill) and Mary Beth Difley of El Cajon, Calif.; his sister, Michelle Larson of Carlsbad, Calif., his twin brother, Michael Difley of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; many nieces and nephews; as well as many extended family members and friends.

No formal services are scheduled at this time. A celebration of Matt’s life will be held at a later date.

Final arrangements have been entrusted to Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907.
