PORTLAND – Anne M. Chabot, 80, passed away on Jan. 11, 2021 at the Barron Center, Portland, after a long illness and short fight with COVID-19.
She was born in Dexter on July 18, 1940, the only daughter of Louis J. and Alice (Fanjoy) Chabot. She graduated from Dexter Schools and attended Andover College.
Anne was powerful with numbers, working for 35 years in the banking industry, through numerous mergers, until her retirement in 2006. She finalized her impressive career with Bank of America, where she wielded her expertise in retirement investments.
Anne enjoyed spending time with her family, attending parties, showers, and gatherings to support her many nieces and nephews, who looked forward to her participation. Anne was passionate about the many pets that were part of her life and was happiest when she had a dog or cat on her lap.
Anne’s niece Wendy Chabot Cleaves, was her steadfast advocate, friend, and source of strength, especially during these last few years of decline for Anne. A great deal of gratitude and praise goes to Wendy for her leadership in Anne’s care. Anne also had a special relationship with her dear friend Bruce Carver of Portland, often referring to him as her “son”. Their friendship was endearing and true, offering connection and purpose in Anne’s later years.
Anne is survived by one brother, Gerard, and his wife Jackie of Lunenburg, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was predeceased by her brothers, Maurice, Robert, Francis, Douglas, and Leonard.
A very special Thank You to the Barron Center for their exceptional, dignified nursing care for Anne over the last several years, and to Hospice of Southern Maine for their end-of-life care and guidance.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday May 8, 2021 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Dexter.
