Odette B. Stebbins

GAITHERSBURG, Md. – Odette B. Stebbins, 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 8, 2021 at Asbury Methodist Village in Gaithersburg, Md.

She is the loving mother of James (Carolyn) Stebbins, John Stebbins, Catherine (Mark) Holder, and the late Patrick Stebbins; she is also the cherished grandmother of Jordan Holder, Kelsey Holder, and Lauren Holder. Survivors also include many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Odette was born in Waterville in 1936, and raised throughout the state. She graduated from the University of Maine in Portland with a degree in education, and relocated to suburban Maryland to raise her family and begin her teaching career. She was a champion of children and their education, and retired after 30 years of teaching elementary school in the Maryland public school system.

She was an avid sports fan who followed the Washington Football Team, the Boston Red Sox, and Maryland Terrapins Basketball. She loved animals, enjoyed the outdoors, played tennis, softball, and relished vacations on the Maine beaches with her family. She loved jazz music and studied piano in her youth.

Her family would like to express their gratitude for the special care Odette received by the incredible caregivers at Asbury Methodist Village.

Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, a private memorial service will take place at Robert A. Pumphrey Funeral Home, Rockville, 300 W. Montgomery Ave, Rockville, Md. Interment to Parklawn Memorial Park.
