Susan Cole

MEXICO BEACH, Fla. – Susie was born on June 23, 1954 in Gray, and passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 24, 2021 in Mexico Beach, Fla.

Susie is survived by her husband of 40 years, Robert Cole; her children, Jason and his wife Melissa Cole of Gray, Josh and his wife Jackie of Sterling, Mass. and Sheila and her husband Corey Fochler of Gray; along with her grandchildren, Sydney and Aiden Cole, Jaxon and Juliana Cole and Tucker and Wesley Fochler.

Her children and grandchildren were her world, as she was theirs. Susie was a 33-year survivor of breast cancer. Susie had the opportunity to stay home for many years to raise Josh and Sheila and then returned to the medical field. She had a gift, a natural way about her that eased people and she loved to help in any way that she could. Susie retired from the medical field to start the family excavation company, Colex, with Robbie until her final and most favorite occupation of helping to raise her grandchildren.

Susie had salt in her bones, spending many years on the ocean with the boat crew, enjoying the magic of Mosher’s island, Casco Bay and beyond. She also loved the woods and would spend time with her family skiing and enjoying nature at her family camp in Riley Township. Later in life, Susie was able to enjoy one of her favorite things every day – the view and beauty of the oceanside at her second home in Mexico Beach, Fla. with Robbie.

Susie had the ability to light up any room. She selflessly gave her all to all those she came in contact, ensuring everyone was taken care of. And while Susie never wanted the spotlight, she was always making everything happen behind the scenes. Susie was the true definition of a lady, a wife, a mother, a friend and a supporter of anyone that needed her love.

Currently, there are no services planned to celebrate Susie but the family hopes to have a celebration of life in the summer.
