KENNEBUNK – The town and the Maine Department of Transportation have signed an agreement to perform road work and install sidewalks on a portion of Factory Pasture Lane.

The total cost is $675,718; of which $135,143, or 20 percent, is the town’s share.

Town Engineer Chris Osterrieder said 3,600 feet of road work and a new sidewalk is scheduled to be completed this year.

The project has been modified several times since it first was introduced a decade ago, including recent alterations. The agreement was first executed in 2011, but the state had not funded construction. Now, it has been advanced in the state’s latest work plan, and federal funds, which are funneled through the state, have been secured.

Osterrieder told the select board that the town is finalizing the right-of-way-acquisition process.

Bids for the project are to be sought in May.

Among projects listed in the Maine DOT work plan for Kennebunk this year is $80,000 earmarked for maintenance work on Gooch’s Creek Bridge on Beach Avenue,  and two drainage projects on Route 35. One of the drainage projects involves about 3.75 miles of ditching to the Arundel town line at $33,000, and the other a culvert project near Alewive Farms Road, at $75,000.

A $1.2 million project at Nash Mill Bridge over the Mousam River on Mill Street has been identified in the 2022-23 portion of the state transportation department’s work plan.
