BIDDEFORD — Sister Veronique Metivier, (Ste Marie de la Visitation), a sister of the Presentation of Mary, 98 died in Biddeford, Maine, at St. Joseph Convent after 78 years of religious life.

Born in Albion, Rhode Island, on April 14, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Alphee and Delia Metivier. She graduated from St. Ambrose School in Albion, and Presentation of Mary in Granby, Canada.

She studied and received her B.A. from Catholic Teacher’s College Providence, Rhode Island specializing in elementary education. Her talent for arts was also developed at Assumption College and University of Maine in ceramics. She taught art at Marie Joseph Academy. She was blessed to have her own art studio in Methuen, Massachusetts where she gave ceramic and art lessons. Her retirement years were spent at St. Claire Residence in Methuen, Massachusetts. In 2019, she moved to St. Joseph convent in Biddeford, Maine.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her brother, Ambroise; and sisters, Dolores and Marguerite.

She will be deeply missed by the Sisters in Maine and Massachusetts, and by her niece, Anne Marie Lussier and nephews.
