Marion A. Locke

GOFFSTOWN, N.H. – Marion A. Locke, 92, of Goffstown, N.H. passed away on Feb. 17, 2021 after enjoying a long and productive life.

Born on Sept. 3, 1928 in Ogunquit, she was one of eight children born to the late Nelson C. and Clara G. (Dixon) Adams.

Marion was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Edwin F. Locke.

Following her graduation from Wells High School in 1945, she began employment as a telephone operator for New England Telephone and Telegraph at the Wells/Ogunquit office. She met and married her husband Edwin in 1947. They remained in Maine until 1968 when the family relocated to Goffstown, N.H.

Marion was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her passion was spending time at her cottage on Swan Pond in Lyman which she enjoyed for over 50 years.

Marion was active at the Masonic Temple in Goffstown, N.H. and served as Worthy Matron for the Martha Washington Chapter, Order of Eastern Star in 1978 and achieved her 50-year membership.

Following her husband’s passing, Marion remained very active. She enjoyed exercising and swimming at the YMCA in Goffstown, N.H. and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed spending time with her dear friends Ellie Swindlehurst and Jan Paradis. She was a member of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI).

She was predeceased by all of her siblings, brothers Nelson, Richmond, Bernard and Marlow and sisters Mildred, Virginia, and Marcia.

She was most proud of her family which includes, Kenneth and Paula Locke of Lyman, Robert and Mary Locke of New Boston, N.H., Richard and Kathleen Locke of Auburn, N.H., Cheryl and James Mullen of Loudon, N.H. and Donna and William Morrill of Goffstown, N.H. She has 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements will be handled by the French and Rising Funeral Home. There will be no calling hours. A private burial service will be conducted at the Oceanview Cemetery in Wells. To leave a message of condolence go to http://www.frenchandrising.com.
