Debra Ann Whipple

PORTLAND – Debra Ann Whipple “Whip” 56, of Portland, “turned the page” and passed peacefully on Jan. 11, 2021. She grew up on Munjoy Hill and attended Portland schools.

She is predeceased by her parents, George E. and June McCullum Whipple; as well as brothers, Stephen, Robert, David, and Scott, sisters, Andrea and Karen.

She is survived by brothers, Don Whipple of Portland and Thomas Whipple and wife Arne of Waynesboro, Va. They were always by her side and she was so thankful for them. Deb also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Deb had a love of music. She loved singing and dancing. She was ecstatic when she was able to travel to Boston with her life-long friend and soul sister, Letiticia, to see Bob Seger perform at the Garden. Letiticia also organized a beautiful celebration of life or “Up, Up, and Away” party this past summer in her honor.

She will forever be remembered for her sense of humor and quick comebacks. She was gifted with that razor sharp “Whipple Wit”. Deb lived life on her own terms and followed her own path always running “Against the Wind”.

Deb, we love and miss you so very much. You are always in our hearts. Thank you for the memories, the laughter and in the words of Aunt Janet, “Thanks for stopping by…”

At Debra’s request there will be no formal services. The family does plan to host a gathering to be held at a later date.
