Muriel C. Vigue

SACO – Muriel C. Vigue, 92, passed peacefully on Feb. 24, 2021 at Evergreen Manor in Saco after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. She was born in Wells on May 30, 1928, the daughter of Melvin and Hazel Campbell and graduated from Wells High School in 1945.

Muriel was married to Henry Vigue Sr., a WWI veteran for 25 wonderful years. Together they worked in the restaurant business for many years, lastly owning the Jackson Corner Take-out in Lyman. Retiring to Titusville, Fla., Muriel then worked at Dixie Crossroads Restaurant and volunteered at a local senior home. After Henry’s passing, Muriel later married Joseph Mikels of Titusville for another happy 25 years.

Muriel was a kind and giving friend, known for her generosity and caring spirit. She loved fishing, bowling, bingo, collecting trinkets, and drinking coffee all hours of the day. She could strike up a conversation with anyone. Most of all, Muriel loved her son, Henry Jr.

Muriel was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Carlton and Kenneth, and sister, Charlotte. She is survived by her brother, Donald and his wife Lena Campbell of Wells; son, Henry Vigue Jr. and his wife Patricia; grandchildren Sarah and Robert Smith and Daniel and Jillian Vigue; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jasper, and Lucas, all of Lyman.

Muriel will be laid to rest alongside Henry Sr. at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta at a later date.

The family wishes to greatly thank the staff at Evergreen Manor for the gracious care over the past several years.
