BRIDGTON — The Board of Selectmen will hold a public hearing on an estimated proposed $2.65 million senior memory care center on North High Street Tuesday, March 9.

The 24,000-square-foot Woodlands Senior Living Municipal Development would have the capacity for 48-residents and would be built 21 acres, according to documents posted to the town’s website.

Woodlands Senior Living of Waterville is seeking a tax break on the project. If approved, the town in exchange would receive 100% of the “increased assessed value” on the 21-acres with a sunset date of 20 years. The revenue gained from the district will go toward the town’s Development Program Fund.

Community Development Director Linda LaCroix said last month that the Selectboard declined to include her amendment for $50,000 of that revenue to go child care subsidies, including transportation to and from day care facilities and before and after school care. The amendment is allowed under state law and the subsidies would come from the development fund.

Next week’s public hearing will take place remotely, starting at 5 p.m. Residents will vote on the proposal in a special referendum election on March 30. The polls at 26 North High St. will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, visit bridgtonmaine.org/notices.
