Patricia Ann Guimond

SACO – Patricia “Pat” or “Patty” Ann Guimond, 78, died peacefully after a yearlong battle with cancer on March 20, 2021 with her family by her side. She was born on May 7, 1942, in Portland, the daughter of the late James “Skippy” and Mary (Fields) Markley.

Pat graduated from Portland High School, class of 1960. After graduation, she met and married Lincoln R. Guimond in 1963. They went on to have six children and 10 grandchildren. Pat was a lifelong communicant of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

She retired 15 years ago from Iron Mountain where she worked as a receptionist. Upon retirement, it was well known to everyone that she was not to be called before 10 a.m. and would always say that the best part about retirement was never having to set an alarm clock!

Pat was genuinely a sweet and caring person and always went out of her way to make people smile and laugh. She never spoke badly about anyone. Pat was often the first person her family and friends went to for guidance and support due to her deep Christian faith. Pat’s unique gift was making everyone feel special. It was an ongoing joke with her children and grandchildren that each one of them was her favorite. Pat made everyone feel like they were part of her family and was called Mom G, Mrs. G, Aunt Pat or Nana by family friends. She left a lasting impression on anyone who had the good fortune of meeting her.

Pat’s joy in life was spending time with her family. Her favorite holiday was Christmas where she would always go to mass and then spend the evening with her family, singing Christmas carols. Her last Christmas was an amazing one! She loved to sing and would do so regardless of whether she knew the words or not, often making up her own. It gives us comfort knowing she is now in heaven singing and dancing with the angels and is reunited with her heavenly family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, Lincoln R. Guimond; and son, Lincoln J. Guimond; sister, Kathleen Rice, and brother, James Markley.

She is survived by her daughters, Theresa White and husband, Gordon of California, Jeannine Allen of Auburn, Kathleen Lyden and husband, David of Portland, Renee Jurek and husband, Chris of Michigan, Krista Mora and husband, Bryan of Gorham; brothers, Thomas Markley and wife, Brenda of Falmouth, Joseph Markley and wife, Peg of Portland, Timothy Markley and wife, Susan of Falmouth; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Our family would like to acknowledge the exceptional care that her oldest granddaughter, Nicole Allen, provided to our Mom throughout her illness this past year. It meant the world to our family and to our mother.

Funeral services will be held at a later date this summer.
