Danny Thompson Collomy

Buxton – Danny Thompson Collomy, 89, of Berry Road passed away Wednesday April 7, 2021 at his residence. He was born in Portland January 23, 1932 the son of Delwin and Flora Townsend Collomy. Danny attended local schools and graduated from Thornton Academy. After high school, he attended and graduated from Gorham State Teachers College with a degree in Industrial Arts.. After college, he entered the US Army and served in Korea for one year. After his service to his country, he returned home and worked for Saco River Telephone. Danny worked for many many years as a carpenter, building or working on many of the homes in Buxton. Danny made or repaired many of the Buxton Town Buildings. He was a member of the Maine Muzzleloaders, the Scarborough Fish and Game, Buxton Taxpayers Association, and Salmon Falls Country Club. As a member of the Buxton Hollis Rod and Gun Club he held many positions, including President, Hunter Safety Instructor and recently the new renovated rifle range was dedicated in his name. During the Buxton Bicentennial, Dan set up a shooting range and gave demonstrations on Muzzle loading. Dan was very active in the Town of Buxton, serving on the Planning Board for 8 years and as a Selectman for 10 years. The Buxton Annual Report of 2011 was dedicated to Dan and his wife Olive. Dan is predeceased by a son Daniel Thompson Collomy Jr., a daughter Linda Irene Collomy, 2 brothers Roland Collomy and Delwin Collomy Jr. and a grandson Russell Earl Lunt. He is survived by his wife Olive Gochie Collomy of Buxton, a daughter Penny Hanson of Parsonsfield and husband Victor, a son Daniel Collomy II of Waterboro and wife Elaine, 9 grandchildren Paige, Robert, J. C. Ann, Gabriel, Peter, Edward, Levi, Tristan and Jessica, 5 great grandchildren Jonathan, TJ, Gabriel, Nicolas and Andrew, a sister in law Joyce Collomy , many nieces and nephew and many people who called him papa, pa and grand pa. Friends and relatives may call at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home 13 Portland Rd, Buxton Monday April 12 from 3 to 6 PM. Pastor Laura Holt Haslam will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.Please follow Covid protocols, with required mask and distancing.
