SCARBOROUGH — This year, local community nonprofits are more in need of support than in any other time in recent years. Now shoppers can give back to the local community and help to reduce single-use plastics by purchasing a special reusable bag at the Hannaford store located at 31 Hannaford Drive, U.S. Route 1 in Scarborough. The YMCA of Southern Maine has been selected by local Hannaford store leadership as the benefiting nonprofit in the Hannaford Reusable Community Bag program for the month of May.

The Hannaford Reusable Community is designed to give back to the local community with every reusable bag purchased. Every $2.50 reusable Community Bag sold supports a nonprofit local to the store in which it was purchased. This program offers a way for shoppers to give back as part of the regular weekly routine.
