Marianne R. “Mimi” Caron, 84 years, longtime resident of Summer Street Kennebunk died Friday April 30, 2021, at the Cedars in Portland, after a long illness.

Mimi was born in Newton, Massachusetts, on May 4, 1936, a daughter of Wallace E. Richmond and Dorothea Flagg Smith and attended Gould Academy and graduated from Waynflete School in Portland in 1955. In September 1955, she married Robert E. Caron and later divorced, but remained very close friends right up until the time of her death.

She was homemaker for most of her life. Mimi enjoyed planning and tending to her vast gardens and sold her arrangements and cut flowers from her barn. She loved stained glass art as well as taking her two beloved dogs on two-mile jaunts on Summer Street. Mimi also enjoyed her visits with family and friends and was quite the talker until her stroke took that away.

Mimi was predeceased by her parents, her son, Jeffrey Wayne Caron, who died in 2012, and her sister, Joan W. Holmes, in 1987.

Mimi is survived by her son, Michael Robert Caron of Kennebunk, two daughters, Debra Caron-Plourde of Saco and Michelle Lawson of Scarborough, and 3 beloved grandchildren, Alyssa Flagg, Arianna Lawson, Micayla Lawson, as well as two great grandchildren, Olivia and Johanna.

Mimi’s family welcome those who like to attend the graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday May 6, 2021, at Evergreen Cemetery, Kennebunk.

Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Animal Welfare Society, P.O. Box 43, West Kennebunk, ME 04094, in Mimi’s memory.
