LEWISTON – Frances Marie Wigant, 90, of South Portland passed away Monday May 3, 2021 at d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston. She was born in Hollis on Sept. 22, 1930, the daughter of Cleon and Hazel Huff. She attended schools i n Hollis and graduated from Bonny Eagle High School.

Frances married George Wigant in 1959, and they were married for 52 years until his passing in July 2012. She was a member of the First Congregationalist Church on Cottage Road in South Portland. Frances provided daycare services from her home for more than 20 years and she loved every child that was under her care. She was affectionately known to the children as “Aunt Frances”. Frances also loved cats and she and George had several over the years.

She is survived by her son Gary and his wife Diane of Lewiston, daughter Susan Foss and her husband Greg of Connecticut; grandchildren Ben and Brian Wigant of Lewiston; grandchildren Malaina and Orianna Foss of Connecticut: sisters Shirley Leohner of Portland, Virginia Thompson of Augusta, and a brother Kenneth Huff of New York.

Visitation will be from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 7 at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Portland and at 2:00 p.m. graveside service will follow at Forest City Cemetery, 232 Lincoln St. South Portland.
