OHIO – Kristopher “Kris” Alan Roukey was a devoted husband, father, son and friend. He left this world suddenly on Sunday, May 2, 2021.

Kris was born in Portland, Maine, to Robert Roukey and Donna Lamb on Jan. 24, 1973. Kris grew up in South Portland across the street from the South Portland Boys Club where his love for baseball started. Kris was on all star baseball teams all through high school and graduated from South Portland High School in 1991. He attended Springfield College and graduated with a degree in sports management. After college, he spent a year in Oklahoma with the Tulsa Drillers, and then moved to Ohio where he lived for over 20 years. He worked with the the Akron Aeros and then with the Cleveland Indians Major League Baseball organization where he worked up until the summer of 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic shut down much of Major League Baseball. In Ohio, Kris met and fell in love with his soulmate, Rachel. Together they had two children, Maddie and Tyler.

Kris was passionate about his children and their achievements. He was very involved in helping Maddie achieve their goal of playing softball at the college level at Bucknell this fall and was just scratching the surface of Tyler’s potential in indoor volleyball. Kris was a consistent presence at softball games and would often be seen walking around talking to people. He was intense, even a bit high-strung, at times about the sport. He’d pace up and down the field during close games and was always quick with praise and cheers for all the players when they did well. He will never know the number of lives he has touched and impacted while we around him benefitted from his love, positive energy and infectious smile and laugh. He was a gentle and caring soul, always willing to strike up a conversation and make anyone feel comfortable while doing so.

Kris is survived by his wife, Rachel, daughter, Maddie and son, Tyler. He is also survived by his mother, Donna Lamb and her fiance Ronald Neptune of Windham, his father, Robert Roukey and wife Brenda of South Portland, brother, Robert Roukey Jr., sisters, Mindy Hanson and Melissa Guzman and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A celebration of Kris’s life will be held at a later date.
