Barbara Ann Taylor

NEWBURYPORT, Mass. – Barbara Ann Taylor, 83, of Newburyport, Mass., formerly of Arlington, passed away on May 11, 2021 after a long illness. She was born on June 13, 1937 in Rumford, to parents John H. Sr. and Isabel (Robbins) Taylor.

Barbara grew up in Maine with her family, went to Roxbury Schools until the family moved to Windham in 1951. She graduated from Windham High School in 1955. After graduating she enrolled in North Eastern Business School where she got a degree in accounting. She worked as an accountant at a car dealership in Portland before moving to Massachusetts for another opportunity. She worked for many years in accounting at car dealerships before retiring in her early 70s. Even after retirement she continued to work from home.

Barbara was an avid traveler, making many trips to New Jersey to visit family, and loved going on cruises. She was a part of bowling leagues, liked watching harness racing, enjoyed tending to her flower garden, attending family gatherings and was always rooting for the Red Sox and Patriots. Barbara will be remembered for her thoughtful, caring demeanor and her unconditional love for her family.

Barbara is survived by her siblings, John H. Taylor Jr. and his wife Carol, Elaine Libby and her husband Richard, all of Windham, and Alberta Peavey of Merrimac, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her parents; her longtime friend, Kenneth Andersen; her brother-in-law, Brian W. Peavey Sr.; and many close friends.

A private graveside service will be held for Barbara later this month. The family wants to thank the staff and caregivers at Avita of Newburyport who have taken such wonderful care of Barbara for the last several years.
