Harriet L. Piper

FALMOUTH – Harriet L. Piper, 85, after making Falmouth by the Sea her home for the last four years, quietly passed on Friday, May 14, 2021 after making many new friends from the staff and residents.

Harriet was born in Harmony on May 26, 1935, a daughter of the late Fred and Frances M. (Dore) Piper. She was the middle child of 13. As a young child, her family moved to Readfield. Harriet graduated from Kents Hill School in 1953. She worked in the insurance business for many years until her retirement, when she could spend more time having fun and creating beautiful crafts. Her knitting, crocheting, painting and tatting projects would fill her table at holiday craft sales. The only thing she enjoyed more than making crafts was giving them to her friends and family.

She is survived by six siblings, Maynard Piper, Louis Piper, Eleanor Brown, Anna Piper, Richard Piper and June Piper. She also leaves many nieces and nephews as well as her special friends whom she deeply valued. She is also the sister of the late Vivian King, Clenda Folsom, Granville “Bill” Piper, Ormond Piper, Verna Combs and Carolyn Mashburn.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Readfield Corner Cemetery in Readfield.
