Paul A. Wheeler

FALMOUTH – Paul A. Wheeler, 55, died unexpectedly on Sept. 14, 2021 of natural causes.

Paul was born in Boston on Jan. 29, 1966 the son of the late Ronald and Lucille (Martineau) Wheeler. He attended local schools and graduated from Watertown High School in the class of 1984 and then earned his B.A. from Westfield State University in 1988.

On June 24, 1995 Paul married Elizabeth Blanchard in Newcastle. Together, they made their home in Massachusetts.

Paul started his working career right out of college at Island Oasis Frozen Cocktail Company, starting at the bottom and working his way up through the company to become chief financial officer. He worked for Island Oasis for nearly 20 years. Paul and Beth returned to Maine, to raise their three sons, in 2003. He worked for Smart Eye Care, an eye care company with branches in Farmingdale, Augusta and Bangor, as CFO and in 2017 became a co-owner of the company.

Paul was an avid New England sports fan and also enjoyed watching all of his sons participate in school sports. He loved spending time at home with family, trips to Florida, and walking the beach. He enjoyed time with college friends, and family in Massachusetts. Paul was truly a self-made man. He took pride in his education and had a very strong work ethic, which he imparted to his three boys. He will be remembered for his dry and sarcastic sense of humor, his generosity and thoughtfulness to others, and his ability to put his family first.

Paul was predeceased by two sisters, Laura and Sharon Wheeler.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Blanchard; three sons, Austin, Owen, and Avery Wheeler; a sister, Carole Wheeler, two brothers, David Sr. and his wife, Dorothea Wheeler, and Mark Wheeler; a nephew, Joseph Clifford, along with several other nieces and nephews.

At the family’s request all services at this time will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 172 State St., Portland. To view Paul’s memorial page, or to share an online condolence, please visit http://www.ConroyTullyWalker.com
