John Henry Leasure

SCARBOROUGH – John Henry Leasure, 93, passed away peacefully Sunday at home, surrounded by his family.

He was born on April 24, 1928, in Altoona, Pa., son of the late Henry L and Cleova (Zeke) Leasure. He later married Mary T. DeFrancesco at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. John was a graduate of Penn State University and practiced architecture for over 60 years. He served as chairman of the Maine State Board of Architects. John honorably served in the United States Navy and was a member of Portland Community Chorus (PCC) for over twenty years. In addition to his passion of architecture, he loved to sail, dance with his lovely wife, and sing with PCC at the Magic of Christmas.

He was predeceased by his sister, Marjorie Brady. He is survived by his wife, Mary; a daughter, Debbie (Joe) Ronzo, five sons, David, John (Maggie), Joe (Deanne), Mark, Paul (Lisa); 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, whom he enjoyed spending most of his time.

Visiting hours celebrating John’s life will be held on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022, from 4-7 p.m., at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 28, 2022, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christin Burial at St. Bartholomew’s Church, 8 Two Lights Road, Cape Elizabeth. A reception will immediately follow in the church hall. Burial will be held in the spring at Riverside Cemetery, Cape Elizabeth.
