PORTLAND – Carole E. Ireland, 74, formerly of Tucker Avenue, in Portland, passed away on Tuesday Jan. 25, 2022 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
She was born in Portland on Feb. 22, 1947, a daughter of Melvin E. and Kathryn G. (Noyes) Ireland.
Carole was educated in Portland schools, and was a graduate of Deering High School, class of 1965. She attended Gorham State Teachers College for three years.
She was employed with the City of Portland from 1972-1978, St. Joseph’s Manor, 1978-1990; Lucas Tree Experts, 1992-1997 and Portland Public Schools, 1988-1990 and 1997-2010.
Carole was predeceased by her parents; and several aunts and uncles; as well as many beloved pets.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Elizabeth McGranahan and husband Jay of Westbrook; loving companion, Anthony Valente; adored grandson, Anthony Osmond and wife Samantha of Orange, Va.; brother, Thomas Ireland of Winterport; two great-granddaughters, Callie and Braelynne; four nieces; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and best friend since 3rd grade, Susan (Wernig) Jordan of Westbrook.
