Richard Alfred Beote died peacefully on Monday, Jan. 31, 2022, at his home in Kennebunkport with his family at his side.

Born in Yarmouth, Maine, on Dec. 15, 1933, a son of John and Frances (Mason) Beote, Sr., he grew up in Yarmouth and attended North Yarmouth Academy. He went on to graduate from Gorham State Teachers College where he met his future wife, Kathryn (Kay) Curran.

After teaching in Kennebunkport Consolidated School he joined Biddeford Savings Bank in Biddeford where he served on numerous boards and committees.

He excelled at sports in both high school and college, but found his real passion was golf. A member of the Cape Arundel Golf Club, he spent many, many happy hours playing with friends and son Rick on various courses around the state.

He was predeceased by his brother, John Beote, sister, Mary Beote, sons, Mark Curran Beote and Nathan Millay Beote and daughter Trudy Beote Stevens.

He is survived his wife of 67 years, Kathryn (Curran) Beote, son Richard Jeffrey Beote, granddaughter Sarah Stevens Weiss and husband Richard and their children, Sophia Weiss and Cyrus Weiss and son-in-law Mark K. Stevens.

Graveside services will be held in the spring.
