Danny Arthur Danforth

PALM COAST, Fla. – Danny Arthur Danforth passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022, with his wife by his side. After giving it his all for the fight of his life, he had the grace to realize the battle was lost, and chose to lay down his arms.

Danny was born in Portland and graduated from Deering High School in 1964. He worked for Day’s Jewelry for the first 10 years of his working life and retired from Sappi Fine Paper Westbrook in 1999.

Fishing was a favorite activity, whether it was in a brook, lake, or ocean. Boating in Casco Bay and Penobscot Bay gave him enormous pleasure, and he learned to sail in his retirement when time was no longer “of the essence.” He loved beautiful sunrises, the calm at anchor, a good debate once in a while, and his family and many friends.

Danny and his wife sailed to Florida and back living on their tiny Pearson for 11 months. After that adventure, they traveled America in their small fifth wheel, eventually settling in Palm Coast, Fla. where they made wonderful new friends making their active retirement even more special.

Danny is preceded in death by his parents Arthur D. and Helen (Young) Danforth; and his grandson, Joshua Lee Danforth.

Danny is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sharon L. (Daggett) Danforth; sons Michael Arthur (Becca) Danforth, Richard Lee (Marcie) Danforth; grandchildren Nicholas Stephen Danforth, Jacob Arthur Danforth and his love, Tianna, Abigail Louise Danforth; sister, Cheryl (Gary) Cheney and their children Tanya (Tim) Theriault and their son, Isaac, Tracy (Charles) Johnson, and Chris (Dawn) Cheney.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The family of Mr. Danforth has entrusted the arrangements to Clymer Funeral Home and Cremations.
