Harold George Yerxa

WESTBROOK – Harold George Yerxa went to be with the Lord on Feb. 17, 2022. Harold was born in Portland on Feb. 29, 1932. He grew up in Portland and graduated from Deering High School. Harold married Louise Mildred Caron and shared 67 years of a wonderful life.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank Allen and Rae (Townsend) Yerxa; and his siblings Robert Yerxa, Rex Yerxa and Rachel Parry.

Harold served in the U.S. Navy and when discharged held a variety of positions including owning Yerxa Auto Sales on Allen Avenue in Portland. Prior to his retirement and moving to Hernando, Fla. Harold worked as a bus operator with the Greater Portland Transit District (Metro).

Harold leaves behind his beloved wife, Louise (Caron) Yerxa, his children, Donna (Kenneth) Rice of Windham, and Frank (Rebecca) Yerxa of Sparks, Nev.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Harold was sociable and loved talking to everyone. He was a father, grandfather, great-grandfather and above all had great faith in God. Harold was active in church and was a member of the South Portland Church of Nazarene and while living in Florida, the Hernando Church of Nazarene. Harold had a passion for teaching the adult Sunday school classes.

The family will have a service for Harold this summer.
