Dennis Lee Dorey

LEWISTON – Dennis Lee Dorey, 73, a resident of Raymond, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2022, Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. He was born January 4, 1949, in Rumford, the son of Kenneth Ronald Dorey, Sr. and Evelyn (Robinson) Dorey.He was a 1967 graduate of Livermore Falls High School. After High School Dennis received his Bachelor’s in education from the University of Maine Farmington in 1971, his Master’s in Education Administration from the University of Southern Maine in 1981, and his Master’s in special education from Lesley College in Cambridge, Mass. He worked as a teacher in Gray schools and as Principal in Raymond.In 1971, Dennis married his high school sweetheart, Tina (Ernestine) Marie Hinkley. They were happily married for 49 years before her passing in 2020. They built their home together, with their own hands in Raymond. They traveled the United States and Canada, extensively, and especially enjoyed frequent trips to New York City attending Broadway Shows. Dennis and Tina have no children but led a full life as each other’s best friend.Dennis was a member of the Maine Teachers Association, the National Teachers Association, and of Kapa Delta Phi. He was an avid fan of all things Star Trek. He enjoyed taking pictures wherever he went. He also enjoyed teaching computer technology.He is survived by his sister, Ronnie Sanborn of Livermore Falls, his brothers, Rick Dorey and wife Sheila of Winthrop and Ken Dorey and wife Liz of South Carolina, his sister and brothers-in-law, Genevieve Clark of Standish, Linda Lyman and husband Lew of Livermore, and Marilyn Graham and husband William of Pittsfield; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. A Graveside Service will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Pleasant View Cemetery, 51 Fayette Road, Livermore Falls, Maine. arrangements by FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church Street, Livermore Falls, Maine.
