AUBURN – Glenys T. Viitala, 86, of Harrison, died Wednesday afternoon, March 2, 2022 at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn.
She was born on Oct. 26, 1935 in West Poland, a daughter of, Colby and Erma (Tibbetts) Tripp and attended local schools, graduating from Mechanic Falls High School.
On May 6, 1961, she married Carlo Viitala in West Poland. She worked for a short time in a nearby hospital before settling in at the family dairy farm in Harrison, working alongside her husband.
In 1979, Glenys went to work for the Lake Region school district as a custodian and did so for nearly 25 years.
She enjoyed dancing and was a voracious newspaper reader.
Glenys is survived by her husband, Carlo of Harrison; her son, Lars of Harrison, her daughter, Randa of Harrison; a sister, Leah Willis of Westbrook; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Wheeler Tripp.
A time of memorial visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m., Saturday, May 21 at the Hall Funeral Home, 165 Quaker Ridge Road in Casco. Condolences and tributes may be shared with Glenys’ family and friends at http://www.hallfuneralhome.net.
