CARTHAGE, N.C. – Thomas Cecil Burgess Jr. passed away March 11, 2022 in Carthage N.C. He was born August 17, 1934 in Portland to Thomas C. Burgess Sr. and Eunice Kenney of Scarborough. He was one of four children.
Thomas, aka “Sam”, graduated from Cheverus High School in 1952 and joined the Navy. He married Carol Ann Slay in 1955.
Thomas enjoyed fishing and operating his restaurant as chef of the Captain’s Cabin in Alexandria Bay, N.Y.
He was predeceased by his second wife, Carol Hewett, who passed in 2016.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Jane Flynn; three children, Thomas Burgess III, Raymond Michael Burgess and Donna Burgess-Graffam, all of Maine. Thomas was a grandfather of six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He will be missed by his family.
