ORONO – Gordon Bigelow died on March 16, 2022 after 60 years of marriage to Beverly McCarthy Bigelow.
Born in Cambridge, Mass., he attended Deerfield Academy and Brown University. After military service he earned an MEd from University of Maine, Orono and PhD from Brigham Young University.
He and Beverly returned to Maine where he worked as Dean and VP at the University of Southern Maine.
In retirement they spent summers at their cottage on Frenchman Bay in Hancock and enjoyed travel and boating on the Maine coast.
He is survived by sons Gordon and Bruce Bigelow.
Services will be private.
Memorial gifts in his name may be made to Frenchman Bay Conservancy.
