BIDDEFORD — May Street residents and users are invited to address the City of Biddeford’s Policy Committee about traffic concerns in their neighborhood at the committee’s 5 p.m. meeting on July 11. Those who attend will also have the opportunity to share ideas on how to calm traffic and improve pedestrian safety.

The Policy Committee meeting will be held at 5 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers and via Zoom at the following link: https://biddeford.zoom.us/j/96649827248?pwd=cjFTbFRaZDVsYUZxblg4TDk2VmZaQT09, Passcode: 680039. The meeting will also be broadcast live on Public Access Channel 1301.

Those who are unable to attend the meeting are encouraged to submit their concerns and ideas on the city’s online engagement platform Our Biddeford at our.biddefordmaine.org/en/projects/may-street-traffic. Feedback can be shared online through July 10 and will be provided to the Policy Committee for their consideration.

The Biddeford Police Department conducted a survey of May Street traffic this spring in response to resident concerns in the area. From May 17 through June 7, nearly 108,000 vehicle trips were taken on the street, with motorists traveling at an average speed of 29 miles per hour. The speed limit on May Street is 25 miles per hour.
