Annual book sale benefits library programs
Friends of the Bridgton Public Library will hold their giant summer book sale in the parking lot behind the library from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 16 (rain date Sunday, July 17). This popular annual event offers a wide range of gently used books of all genres – fiction and nonfiction, science, art, cooking, self-help, children’s books, and more. Next Music on Main

Bridgton’s free concert series, Music on Main, continues with a third concert Saturday, July 23, at the vacant lot next to Bridgton Books on Main Street. Rocker Matt Fournier opens the event at 6 p.m., then Maine-based singer/songwriter Pete Kilpatrick takes the stage with his band. Kilpatrick was named Maine’s best act four times in the Portland Best Music Awards and has performed alongside Dave Matthews Band and Barenaked Ladies. Local vendors will be on hand selling food and beverages. The event takes place rain or shine; no coolers or pets are allowed.
Art in the Park is back
After a two-year, pandemic-driven hiatus, the ever-popular Art in the Park returns to Shorey Park Saturday, July 16 (rain date Sunday, July 17). The event, sponsored by Gallery 302 and the Bridgton Art Guild, has been a summer highlight in Bridgton for many years. The 2022 show features nearly 40 artists and craftspeople as well as booths by local nonprofit organizations. Come make a day of it – stop by the library book sale, then go down the street to meet the artists and browse through paintings, pottery, prints, jewelry, fibers arts and more while listening to live music and enjoying delicious food.
Loon Echo sunset concert
Bruce Marshall will play a sunset concert at Loon Echo Land Trust’s Hacker’s Hill Preserve in Casco at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 20. A donation of $10 per adult is suggested and proceeds support LELT. Bring a blanket and picnic basket and enjoy watching the sun slip beyond the horizon while listening to relaxing melodies.
Loon Echo will hold its 35th Annual Meeting with a dinner at Narramissic farm in South Bridgton from 4-7 p.m. Aug. 3.
