A pharmacy in Wells was struck by lightning Sunday afternoon, but no injuries were reported, and the store was able to reopen following the incident.

The Wells Fire Department said lightning hit the CVS Pharmacy, 11 Steeple Way, around 2:30 p.m. Most of the damage was confined to the roof.

When fire crews arrived at the scene they encountered light smoke coming from the roof. Firefighters surveyed the entire building to ensure that the fire had not spread and then focused their efforts on the roof, which sustained extensive damage. Photographs posted on the Wells Fire Department Facebook page showed charred wood and broken shingles from the strike.

The pharmacy was able to reopen and no injuries were reported, according to the fire department.
