Russell “George” Brady

WINDHAM – Russell “George” Brady peacefully passed away on March 16, 2022, at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, Miss. surrounded by friends and family. He was born Jan. 28, 1957, in Portland to Mrs. Helen Mohn and, the late, Mike Brady, raised and fathered by the late Norman Mohn. Russell graduated from Windham High School in 1975.

Russell is married and survived by his loving and supportive wife, Margaret, of 42 years, and their children Mark Thibeault and wife Gina, Matt Thibeault and wife Gretchen, and Danielle Brady and husband Adam Boynton; and grandchildren Virginia, Oliver, Kasey, Hayden and Kole.

He and his wife owned and operated a successful cleaning company in the Portland area for over 21 years. Russ was also a masterful storyteller of his family, friends and, lovingly, his grandchildren’s successes. He could also carry on a conversation with the best of em!! He was loved and admired by all, a stranger to none.

Russ always strived to sculpt, support, and synergize Windham youth and adult sport programs by coaching, refereeing, umpiring or administration. Second only to his being a multi-sport athlete, his knowledge of sports trivia, fulfilling his children’s aspirations, and the successes of his grandchildren, was his devotion to the Minnesota Vikings. He lived and bled Purple and Gold, his pride in the Purple People Eaters untarnished, and the moto “Defend the North” was never truer.

He is survived by his brother, Daniel and wife Teresa, sister, Debra Marzilli and husband Larry, brother, Scott Mohn and wife Kelley, sisters Dawn Paquet and Karen Hartman; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also predeceased by his brother, Bruce Brady from Wyoming.

Sound the victory horn to Valhalla and join us at a celebration of life which will be held at the American Legion Post 197, 300 Conant St., Westbrook from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, July 23. SKOL!
