Daniel R. “Danny” Chaplick
SCARBOROUGH – Daniel R. “Danny” Chaplick, 53, of Scarborough, formerly of Topsfield, Mass., passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 11, 2022, following a brief illness.
He was the much loved son of Daniel A. and Virginia (Goodhue) Chaplick of Topsfield, the devoted dad of Daniel J., Olivia G., and Aidan J. Chaplick of Scarborough, the brother of Gail A. Chaplick of Bradford, Mass., and the former husband of Alice M (Catera) Chaplick. He was also the grandson of the late Adolph and Anne Chaplick of Hudson, N.H., and of A. Everett and Anne M. Goodhue of Quincy, Mass.
Daniel served at an alter boy at St. Rose of Lima Church in Topsfield at a young age. He later went on to be a 1987 graduate of St. John’s Prep in Danvers, where he was a three-sport athlete (soccer, lacrosse and ski) and was a four year varsity / two-year captain of their four consecutive championship ski teams and was named to the Boston Globe All-Star team. He was MVP in 1986 and represented St. John’s Prep, skiing in both the 1986 and 1987 Bay State Games. He continued his education at Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y., from which he graduated in 1992 with a BS degree in business and was an active member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity at Clarkson and played several intramural sports.
Following graduation, Dan began his business career with Enterprise Rent a Car, where he rose over 15 years from an entry level position to upper management. In 2008, Dan made a career change from cars to medical devices, working for Smith and Nephew and Stryker orthopedic devices and Hill-Rom medical equipment.
However, most important to Dan was his cherished family. He loved being a dad, was a patient teacher, and helped coach the children’s soccer and basketball teams and made skiers of them all. He also installed a large ice-skating rink in their back yard, as well as a hot tub, a basketball, baseball, and trampoline areas, where they were encouraged to invite friends.
Danny loved to entertain and to cook, and everyone relished his special barbecued ribs. He will be greatly missed by his many uncles, aunts, cousins, and longtime friends.
Danny’s Funeral Mass will be held at St. Rose of Lima Church in Topsfield on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Topsfield. Visiting hours will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly, on Tuesday, July 19 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
