Richard Payette
ORCHARD BEACH – Rick was a man with a million smiles as the result of having lived a very full life. He grew up in Lowell, Mass. and attended Catholic school. After graduating he went to Vietnam where he worked as a radio operator. While on leave overseas, he travelled extensively. His love of travel never left. He enjoyed great food & wine and spending time with his friends.
Later in life his wife gave him a paint set, and his passion for painting began. Recognized locally as an accomplished painter, Rick enjoyed creating seascapes, portraits, and scenes that surrounded him.
Rick loved to create and run restaurants. He, along with his wife, owned and operated many successful restaurants including The Landmark for 27 years, Lola’s Cafe and Rick’s Fried Clams. Rick also invented and patented the original circular doorstop. It “Always Grips, Never Flips”.
Rick was predeceased by his stepson, Jeremy. Rick is survived by his wife of 38 years, Eileen, his sisters Celeste Oberg of Sutton, Mass., Susan Allard of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Jeanine Hart of St. Petersburg, Fla., along with a million friends. Rick asked that his friends not mourn him but instead to raise a glass in honor of a life well-lived.
