Brenner for State Senate

To the editor,

As Scarborough residents for the past 17 years, we strongly support Stacy Brenner to be re-elected to the Maine Senate representing Scarborough and Gorham. Stacy is a leader on public health and environmental issues in the Maine legislature and nationally. She spearheaded successful legislation to combat dangerous PFAS chemicals that threaten our water supply and is a fierce defender of women’s reproductive health freedom. As a member of the legislative Health Committee, she worked hard to lower costs and improve access to health care services.

Stacy is chair of the Environment and Natural Resources Committee and is particularly concerned with the effects of climate change on Maine farmers, fishers and coastal residents. As a farmer herself, she knows firsthand the serious impacts extreme weather and draught can have on people’s livelihood.

We know Stacy is a hard-working legislator. Join us in voting for Stacy Brenner to represent us in Augusta.

Library expansion needed

To the editor,

This letter is in response to the person who decided that 93% of the people who decided that they were satisfied with the library as is. Who did she interview? Certainly it was not the seniors who take advantage of the wide variety of programs tailored to them and want more. It was not the little children who take advantage of one of the best children’s programs in the state. She certainly did not interview the people who do not have home computers and have to vie for the five computers in the library (the expansion would provide 30) and most certainly she did not interview the school librarians who, in coordination with the Scarborough librarians are providing the students with a plethora of technology and research material to allow them to compete in 21st century America. We as a community desperately need the library expansion. As the old saying goes “if you think the price of education is high, try the price of ignorance”
